Rescued From Near Death, This Young Loving Tabby is Looking For A Home

young sweet blonde male tabby cat recovered from the brink of death now needs a home with no other kitties

back story

I recently brought home a cat, thinking that he was my cat that has been missing for a year. A couple found this cat in dire conditions, and a neighbor of theirs claimed that they saw someone dump the cat and drive off.

  • My whole family thought it was Dannycat. Every possible match before this, each of my family members would immediately say "not danny." They could see what i couldn't (+ their hearts were not broken.)

  • SO THIS CAT--even my mom was SURE it was Daniel.

  • When i got him from the people that found him, he was too sick to have personality features like or unlike danny.

current health

So. first priority was medical health. It took a couple of weeks (and a large payment) to get him back to a baseline. He was almost in renal failure from long term dehydration. This cat HAD BEEN living the life of an abandoned or lost cat (not stray—because he was fixed, but no tipped ear, no TNR chip.)

  • neutered. dewormed.

  • FIV/FeLV negative.

  • had a recent full panel workup. i can include these records.

  • was given the all clear health-wise by the vets at pawbank.

behavior with other animals

So he has perked up, and is coming into his own. The vets think he is about 4 years old. He was pretty chill with the other cats at first (one boy and two girls) and was great with the dog (a male terrier). He still gets on great with the dog; but every few days he becomes more antagonistic, and at times very violent, with the cats.

It is not necessarily the case that this cat does not get along well with other cats:

  1. the people that found him, they had a cat and the two cats got along great.

    • he was, however, very likely too sick to instigate commotion

  2. i am currently living with my mom and stepdad, and they are HORRIBLE with felines. they dont understand how to communicate with a cat, or how to read a cat; they are so often scaring the cats, making them feel insecure. its been a real problem; its hard to watch anxiety being injected into my kitty babes that before this were UTOPIA-CATS 😻+😿

  3. so maybe this cat would get along great with the cats if he wasn't in a house that scares cats.

  4. Or maybe he was like this all along; and originally was too sick to antagonize others (which seems like the leading theory-as he was nice to these cats too for about 2+ weeks.)

That Being Said—since it is not a 100% certainty, but is a high probability—i am hoping he can find a ONE CAT HOUSEHOLD. NO OTHER CATS! DOGS ARE FINE!

He is still changing and recovering. Honestly, i dont really want to re-home him. Usually, i would rationalize and delude myself into a story of how/why this is going to work and he should stay(i guess i’ve grown😄)—but this life of rotating the cats between the spare bedroom and the rest of the house is totally unfair and suboptimal for everyone involved. He deserves a normal home and a normal life, free of weird lock-downs.

he is a good egg!

  • He is perfectly litter box trained. He has not sprayed once!

  • He is a fun cat! He is so loving!

    • Even the staff at the clinic noted how affectionate he was!

  • He loves to purr, cuddle, sleep, play, and follow you around the house. He loves eye contact. He loves to talk to you.

  • He is not overly demanding for your affection and attention; when I am working on the computer, he is happy to lounge in the chair several feet away.

After All That He Has Gone Through, It Would Be Just The Best If This Guy Got A Happy Ending!

He’s A Lucky Cat!

He Has Been Passed Through Hands That Care So Deeply; Lets Find Him A Landing Place, A Safe Space, A Loving Home To Care Deeply For Him Forever.
